AUBURN – The Auburn Youth Hockey Pee Wee Travel Team will be representing Maine at the New England Sectional Tournament in Morrisville, N.Y., this weekend. The team departs Thursday and will open Friday against Massachusetts. The Mainers will play Rhode Island and New York on Saturday.

Auburn captured the state crown at the Maine Amateur Hockey Association State Championship held recently at Kennebec Arena in Hallowell, defeating the Lewiston Junior Maineiacs 6-1 in the title game. Garrett “Bubba” Van Wie sparked the champs with 4 goals and an assist. Also lighting the lamp were Lauren Ratsep and Nate Bergeron. Credited with assists were Isaac Reed (2), Drew Lupardo, Travis Landry and Chris Tarr. Mariah Mosher was outstanding in goal.

The previous weekend at Bangor, Auburn defeated Casco Bay to advance to the championship game. Auburn is 27-9-1 on the season.
