Seniors to meet

PARIS – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at Market Square Restaurant in South Paris.

Everyone will choose dinner from the menu. Each is asked to bring something for a silent auction. Proceeds will help with the annual trip this summer. New members and guests are welcome.

Tree talk

NORWAY – The Downtown Norway Tree Committee, part of Maine’s Project Canopy, will hold its first organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Norway Town Hall. Anyone interested in the planting, care and maintenance of the trees lining downtown Main Street is invited.

Church supper

SUMNER – The Congregational Church of East Sumner will have a potluck St. Pat’s supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in the vestry. Coffee and punch will be provided.

The Sunday school will sing on Sunday, March 19, at the church. The mission offering will be One Great Hour of Sharing. For more information, call Cynthia Norton at 388-2667.

Parenting course

Call for bakers

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Music, Art, Drama Boosters Club is looking for some bakers and people to help serve at the dessert buffet for the community show, “Carnival,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 30, 31 and April 1, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2. The club is asking for homemade cakes and pies to serve at the intermission of each performance.

Boiled dinner

NORWAY – A classic New England boiled dinner will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the Second Congregational Church, Main Street. The public is invited.

The cost will be $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under age 10. On the menu will be corned beef, cabbage, onions, beets, potatoes, carrots, homemade rolls, homemade pies, coffee and juice. The meal will be served buffet-style. Takeout will be available.

Proceeds will support the missions of the church. Volunteers, under Claude White’s supervision, will prepare and serve the meal. The dining room is handicapped accessible, and the high school youth group will be available to help those diners who need assistance.

Worship and church school is at 10 a.m. Sundays. For more information, call the church office between 9 a.m. and noon, Monday through Friday at 743-2290.

Indoor yard sale

WATERFORD – The first indoor yard sale of the season will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 25, in the Wilkins Community House basement, Plummer Hill Road. For more information, call Karen Fillebrown at 583-2320.

Bridge play

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met March 10 at the Fare Share Common, Main Street.

Finishing first in Flight A were Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Mimi Bell and Bill Bowman, who also finished first in Flight B.
