LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will offer a Thai yoga bodywork workshop for couples, partners and friends on Friday, March 24.

Marcy Covey will introduce participants to a form of yoga that incorporates a type of massage that is performed on a floor mat.

“In essence, the person performing the bodywork does yoga to the receiver. Thai yoga bodywork restores a sense of balance and well-being, balances energy lines in the body, increases flexibility and leaves us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated,” Covey said.

Covey is an experienced health and wellness educator. She holds a variety of health and wellness certifications and is certified in Thai yoga bodywork.

“Yoga helps us to be more balanced, flexible and peaceful in ourselves,” she said. “It helps to alleviate headaches, panic, depression and tight muscles. It also helps us to have the wisdom to make good choices for our lives.”

The workshop will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. at the CMMC Health and Wellness Center, located on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat and a thick blanket. Space is limited. A modest fee will be charged. For more information or to register, call 795-2473.
