AUBURN – Shea (16) and Devin (14) Flynn of Auburn, continue to shine in skiing competition. Their older brother, Rory (21) serves as their coach. He is a junior Business Major at the University of Maine at Farmington and a member of the Ski Industries program there.

Devin recently won the 15-under Boys Maine Mountain Series Championship and qualified to compete at the USASA Nationals at Tahoe, Ca.

This past weekend, Shea was crowned “Young Gun” at the Young Gun Open at Stratton, Vermont, outperforming more than 100 competitors. He is now being sponsored by Line, Scott, Level and Sver Cartel and will compete this spring at the Orage Masters in Mamouth Mountain, Ca., against some of the finest professionals in the world. He will be competing in the Vermont Open, March 25.

Memorial race set

RUMFORD – The first annual Greg Waite Memorial Race is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at Black Mountain of Maine.

The race is named in memory of Waite, a teacher, coach and advocate for the sport of Alpine skiing.

There will be 4-person teams. Entry fee is $25 per person that includes a pass good from 3-9 p.m.. The fee is $20 for Black Mountain season pass holders. The format is two runs on two different Giant Slalom courses.

Registration will take place from 1-3 p.m. First run is set for 3:30.

Proceeds will help continue the ski racing program at Black Mountain.
