LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, March 23, at the Ramada Inn. Peter Geiger, executive vice president of Geiger and editor of the Farmers’ Almanac, will discuss the Lewiston Education Fund.

A strong believer in a hands-on approach to volunteering, Geiger demonstrated his belief and passion for education by establishing an Adopt-A-School Program with Montello Elementary School in Lewiston in 1988, and he has championed similar business/school partnerships throughout Maine.

He has received numerous awards for volunteerism, including the “618th Point of Light” awarded to him by President George Bush for making a difference in the lives and future of children.

In addition, Geiger is former chairman of the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education and the state Board of Education, a former president of the Board of Junior Achievement of Lewiston/Auburn, and has held leadership positions in several other local and state boards and task forces.

Anyone wishing to attend to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome. The buffet luncheon is $8 a person. Access the club’s Web site at www.lewistonauburnrotary.org or call 333-3049 for more information.
