LEWISTON – Bedard Health Care Group is organizing a drive to raise funds for a replacement truck for the Meals on Wheels program.

The Meals on Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest organization in the United States that provides meal services to those who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail or at risk.

For thousands of Maine senior citizens, a daily visit from a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels is the single most important thing that keeps them part of the community, near family and friends and comfortable in familiar surroundings. In Lewiston-Auburn, SeniorsPlus delivers Meals on Wheels to seniors.

The Meals on Wheels delivery truck was destroyed in an accident recently. To raise the money needed to purchase a replacement truck, Bedard is distributing special vouchers to physician offices in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

For every voucher dropped off at Bedard Medical Equipment and Supplies, 1125 Lisbon St., or at Bedard Pharmacy, 61 College St., Bedard will donate $1 toward a new truck, up to $10,000. No purchase is necessary – participants need only bring the vouchers to one of the two drop-off locations before June 30.

Bedard Health Care Group has three major divisions: Bedard Pharmacy, Bedard Medical Equipment and Supplies and Bedard Long-Term Care Pharmacy. For more information, call 888-BEDARDS or visit www.bedardpharmacy.com.
