LIVERMORE FALLS – Kindergarten registration will take place Friday, April 7. Residents of Livermore and Livermore Falls with children who will be 4 on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to have their children attend SAD 36’s Kindergarten for 4-Year-Olds Program in the fall.

Selection of participants will occur after the initial screening process has been completed. Participants will need to meet the criteria, including looking at eligibility for Head Start as well as student scores on assessments given during the registration.

An appointment may be set by calling Livermore Elementary secretaries at 897-3355 or by stopping at the school office at any time prior to April 7. A registration packet is available for those wishing to complete part of the process prior to registration day.

The registration process includes three major parts: the gathering of student identification information, a brief interaction between the child and a kindergarten teacher and a review of the child’s medical history. The process take 15 to 20 minutes. Parents are asked to bring their child’s official birth certificate, social security card and immunization record.

Kindergarten registration for children who will be 5 on or before Oct. 15 will also be held April 7.

Parents are asked to set an appointment to register their child to start school in the fall. The appointment may be set by calling Livermore Elementary secretaries at at the above number. A registration packet is available for those wishing to complete part of the process prior to registration day activity.

Children who are attending the Kindergarten Program For 4-Year-Olds do not have to attend registration.

Fayette parents who are planning to enroll their child in kindergarten for the 2006-2007 school year at Fayette Central School will need to register their child from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, May 12.

To be eligible, a child must be 5 on or before Oct. 15. Parents should call the school at 685-4770 to schedule an appointment.

Parents will need to bring the child, an official birth certificate, immunization records, social security card, proof of residency and custody document, if necessary.

It is required by state law that all children be screened prior to beginning public school. They will receive a vision, speech, language, cognitive, motor and hearing screening.

The school is also planning for next year’s pre-kindergarten program and needs to find out how many children living in Fayette are eligible to attend in the fall. Any residents with a child who will be 4 before Oct. 15 are asked to call the school as soon as possible.
