AUBURN – Organizers are celebrating the success of their first open mic at the First Universalist Church of Auburn.

The community-based event, marking the revival of the Pleasant Note Coffeehouse, attracted more than 75 people of all ages from the Lewiston/Auburn area.

Performers sang, read poetry and played music in the vestry all evening on Friday, March 10. The mixed repertoire spanned folk, rock, Broadway, original songs and a jam between several musicians using guitar, drums and percussion.

“I loved this open mic night tonight – it was awesome,” teen songwriter Tony St. Pierre said on the Internet after the show. “I can’t wait until there’s another one!!”

The next open oic will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 14. There is plenty of parking, and the church is handicapped accessible. Refreshments will be available.
