BRUNSWICK – Seven different pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout as Bowdoin rolled past the University of Maine at Farmington 14-0 in early season baseball action Wednesday.

Nick Lawler, Jared Lemieux and Chris McCaan led the Polar Bears (9-2) with two hits apiece, while Ricky Leclerc tallied three RBIs.

Bowdoin scored in seven of its eight innings at the plate, including a two-run second, three-run third and four-run seventh frame. The Polar Bears received 16 hits from 13 different players. Joe Berte’s fifth inning home run was the big hit of the day for Bowdoin.

MIT 12, USM 9

GORHAM – David Nole had three hits, including a tie-breaking two-run triple in the fifth inning, to lead the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to a 12-9 victory over the University of Southern Maine in action Wednesday.

Nole greeted USM junior reliever Pat Foley with a triple that drove in two runs to break a 2-2 tie. Nole would later score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Chris D’Annunzio to make it 9-6. The Huskies (5-5) got two runs back in the sixth on an RBI triple from Eddie Skeffington and a sac fly by Max Arsenault.

St. Olaf 11, Colby 4

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After falling behind 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning, St. Olaf College rallied back to score eight runs within three innings and take an 11-4 victory over Colby in baseball action Wednesday.

Colby (3-3) gave up a lone run in the first inning and then took its only lead of the game with two runs in the top of the fourth. St. Olaf had 18 hits in the game. Nick Spillane and Roddy Ames each had two hits for the Mules. Spillane, Craig Cooper and Andy Carr all had an RBI for Colby.

Lacrosse

Endicott 15, UNE 3

BIDDEFORD – Burt Fahy scored four times and Kevin Lally added a goal and five assists to lead Endicott to a 15-3 victory over the University of New England in mens’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

Endicott took control from the outset, blanking UNE (2-4) 4-0 in the first period, then scoring the initial goal of the second frame. Dan Ryan tallied a pair of scores in the opening 4:29 to help the Gulls

Bowdoin 11, Wheaton 4

NORTON, Mass. – Christina Denitzio led a group of four players who scored two goals as Bowdoin rolled to an 11-4 rout over Wheaton in women’s lacrosse action Wednesday. Kate Donoghue, Bridget Keating, Grace Moore also registered two goals each for the Polar Bears (6-0).

The Lyons (3-3) scored the game’s first two goals during a 2:03 span, as Meredith Hurd and Sara Dimick tallied to give the hosts a 2-0 lead by 22:51.

Colby 18, Colorado 11

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Kate Sheridan had five goals and one assist to lead Colby to a 18-11 victory over Colordao College in women’s lacrosse action. Lauren Barrett added three goals and one assist for the Mules (3-1).

The Mules led 7-1 at one point in the first half and took a 10-5 lead into halftime. Colorado (6-3) got as close as 11-7 with 19:58 remaining in the game, but the Mules scored the next four goals to pull away. Allie Libby finished with one goal and three assists.

She leads the Mules in scoring with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points.
