ALBANY, N.Y. – The Portland Pirates had eight different scorers en route to a 8-1 victory over the Albany River Rats on Saturday night at the Pepsi Arena.

With the victory, the Pirates set a new franchise record for wins in a season with 47. In addition, the Pirates also have also recorded a new franchise record for road wins in a season with 24.

The visitors grabbed the lead at the 1:32 mark on a power play goal by Bruno St. Jacques.

Shane O’Brien tacked on another tally moments later by tucking the puck inside the near post to put Portland up 2-0.

Portland continued to pound Albany in the first frame adding goals by Kent Huskins and Pierre Parenteau before the close of the first period.

In the middle stanza, Garett Bembridge extended the Pirates lead to 5-0 on a breakaway goal.

Albany scored at the 16:52 mark of the second period on the power play when Nicklas Bergfors notched his 16th goal of the season.

In the final period, Aaron Gavey, Alex Kim and Dustin Penner all tallied for Portland.

Jani Hurme stopped 39 shots in net for the Pirates and Albany’s Ari Ahonen suffered the loss with 38 saves.
