NORWAY – A father was arrested last week and charged with being drunk without a valid license while his son drove them on errands in a Chevy Blazer, operating on his learner’s permit, police said.
“You have to be sober and you have to have a valid license,” police Chief Rob Federico said Monday, explaining the charge filed Thursday against Glenn G. Gloden, 46, of Norway. Gloden was charged with being an impaired licensee while accompanying a person learning to drive a car. Police stopped Gloden and his son on Frost Hill Road, the road where they live.
Gloden’s license is suspended until 2009, police said.
Two days later on April 1, Gloden was stopped again after Officer Dana Wessling spotted Gloden driving his truck in Paris at the intersection of Western Avenue and Main Street. He was charged with violating conditions of release, operating after suspension, possessing a usable amount of marijuana and having an open container of beer on a public way.
A jail official said Gloden was arraigned at court Monday and posted $750 bail. His next court appearance will be May 11 at 11th District Court in Paris, according to police.
