n NEW PRODUCT: Sesame Workshop, the creator of “Sesame Street,” is launching a new line of DVDs designed for children as young as six months and their parents, with the aim of improving interaction.
n UNDER FIRE: The project has drawn criticism from some experts who say no form of TV or videos is suitable for children under 2. They fear the Sesame brand name will convince many parents their infants will benefit from watching videos.
n THE DEFENSE: Sesame Workshop says most parents with kids under 2 already have decided to let the children watch some TV, and that the new product is intended to provide a better option.
