JAY – Police are investigating a break-in at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where an undisclosed amount of money was taken, police officer Russell Adams said Monday.
The burglary was discovered Saturday when church representatives opened the building for a function.
The thief forced his or her way into the Church Street church either late Friday or early Saturday, Adams said.
Doors and locks were damaged throughout the church as pretty much every room was entered and a safe was broken into, he said.
Evidence was collected and will be sent to the state crime lab, Adams said.
Detective Roderick Small is investigating the case.
The latest burglary is one of many in Franklin County that police from several agencies are investigating.
