NEW YORK (AP) – Police shot and wounded a man after he fired a handgun near a group of people in the Bronx.

Police said they were responding to a report of a dispute when they saw Jermaine McLaughlin, 22, firing the weapon. McLaughlin was shot after he fled, police said. Investigators recovered a .25 caliber handgun at the scene.

McLaughlin was brought to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Police charged McLaughlin with criminal use of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
