AUBURN – Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has canceled the awards program and reception scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Auburn Police Department meeting room. A regular meeting will be held.

Easter services

OXFORD – The Easter worship services schedule will include shared services for the First Congregational Church, Elm Street, Mechanic Falls, and Oxford Congregational Church, King Street.

Maundy Thursday service: will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the First Congregational Church.

The Easter service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 16, at the Oxford Congregational Church, with breakfast following the service at 8, served by the Oxford Congregational Youth Group.

All services will be led by the Rev. Michael O. Ring.

Telephone Pioneers

LEWISTON – Stevens Life Member Club, Telephone Pioneers, will hold a luncheon meeting on Wednesday, April 19, at the Ramada Inn. Fellowship will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon followed by a short business meeting.

Entertainment, “Spreading the Seeds of Sunshine,” will be presented by Lei Coombs. Nonperishable food and monetary donations will be collected for the Oxford Food Bank. Reservation deadline is Sunday, April 16.

Blood drive

GREENE – The Greene Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the fire station. Homemade soup and desserts will be available for all donors. The Auxiliary has set a goal of 50 pints. For more information or to sign up, call Brenda at 946-5750.

Musicians join

LEWISTON – Women musicians will gather at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Wisdom’s Center, 97 Blake St. Any woman who plays a musical instrument is welcome. For more information, phone 784-0155.

Needs volunteers

TOPSHAM – Flying Changes Center for Therapeutic Riding seeks volunteers who would like to help with the organization of its major fundraising event, “Pony Day Family Festival,” to be held on Saturday, May 13, at the center on Route 201.

The event is designed to involve children and parents in a pony day of activities for all. The nonprofit organization provides services to 65 special-needs children and adults each week, many of whom reside in the Bath/Brunswick/Topsham area. In addition to raising funds for program expenses, the center also maintains a scholarship fund to assist 70 percent of its clients who are low income.

Activities will include pony-theme crafts, pony rides, a silent auction, petting zoo, horseshoe toss, food and prizes

The center needs volunteers to help with distributing posters, soliciting prize donations, gathering crafts materials as well as people to help coordinate activities on the day of the event. For information, call Director Barbara Doughty at 729-0168.

Bridge results

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met April 9 at the Masonic Building, intersection of Routes 100 and 231.

Finishing first were Betty and Doug Sise with a 70 percent game; second, Linda Leotsakas and Audrey Burns; and third, Marta Clements and Janice Wolfe.

There will no game Sunday, April 16, Easter. The next game will be Sunday, April 23. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is always guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
