Perham to speak

NORWAY – Norway Unitarian Universalist worshipers will welcome Joe Perham to the pulpit at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 16, to celebrate Easter at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Child care will be provided. A coffee hour will follow in the the downstairs concert hall. The choir, led by Heather Pierson, will practice at 9:30 a.m. All are invited.

Christ Church

NORWAY – Christ Church, 35 Paris St., will offer several Holy Week services as part of the events leading up to Easter Day.

On Maundy Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. parishioners will observe the Last Supper with Holy Communion followed by the stripping of the altar and the church of all decorations.

On Good Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m. the congregation will hear St. John’s Passion Gospel, pray special Good Friday prayers and receive Communion.

Just after sunset, 8 p.m., on Saturday, April 15, members will begin the Great Easter Vigil, the first service of Easter. Refreshments will be served after the service.

On Easter Day, there will be services at 8 and 10 a.m. with music at both; choir, child care and refreshments at the 10 a.m. service.

OXFORD – The schedule of events for Easter Week at Oxford Advent Christian Church on Route 26 are announced as follows:

April 13, Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.

April 14, Good Friday, Walk of the Cross in Norway at 1 p.m.; Good Friday service at Hosanna Church on School House Road in Oxford at 7 p.m.

April 16, Resurrection Sunday, Sonrise Service at Alberta Twitchell’s farm, 51 Fore St. Oxford, at 6 a.m.; breakfast at the church about 6:30 a.m.; Sunday School at 8:30 a.m.; coffee time at 9:30 a.m.; resurrection celebration, 10 a.m., the Rev. Frank Jewett preaching.

Shared services

OXFORD – The Easter worship services schedule will include shared services for the First Congregational Church, Elm Street, Mechanic Falls, and Oxford Congregational Church, King Street.

Maundy Thursday service: will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the First Congregational Church.

The Easter service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 16, at the Oxford Congregational Church, with breakfast following the service at 8, served by the Oxford Congregational Youth Group.

All services will be led by the Rev. Michael O. Ring.

Soup supper

NORWAY – The Second Congregational Church, UCC of Norway Maundy Thursday service will take place Thursday, April 13, beginning with a soup supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by Service of Tenebrae and Communion at 6:30. The Sunday school will gather after school for special lessons and to make unleavened bread. All are welcome to supper, service and communion.

A Good Friday Walk will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 14, at the Universalist Church. Participants will stop at churches in Norway and South Paris for readings. The walk will end at the Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris. All are welcome.

Easter Sunday sunrise service will take place at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 16, at Brimstone Corner in South Paris. Breakfast will follow at the First Congregational Church in South Paris.

Easter worship service will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel L. Johnson preaching. Music will be provided by the vocal choir. There will be no Sunday school. A nursery attendant will be available at 10 a.m. for the young children. All are welcome. The church is handicapped accessible.

Grace Fellowship

OXFORD – Grace Fellowship Church, located off Aspen Avenue, will have a sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 16, followed by breakfast. Everyone is welcome. Regular services will follow: 9:15 a.m., adult Sunday school; 10:15 a.m., worship service. Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse can be reached at 674-2733 for details.

Mission Congregational

WEST PARIS – The Holy Week services to be held at the West Paris Mission Congregational Church, 15 Church St., are as follows: April 13, Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.; April 14, Good Friday service at 7 p.m.; April 16, Easter Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. Members are invited to bring a lily or other plant for the sanctuary. Linda Kimball will minister with the congregation.
