BETHEL – Western Mountains Senior College has a wide array of spring courses and theater offerings and will take registrations at its tea for members and guests from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street.

The new Western Mountains Senior Players will provide entertainment. Members and nonmembers who wish to join are asked to call J. Cressy at 824-0508 by Tuesday, April 18, to register for the tea.

Courses will be as follows:

“Digital Photography – Learning to Love Your Camera,” May 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Telstar High School. Robert McCartney, commercial photographer for 40 years, will teach participants how to use a digital camera to its fullest capability and will offer tips on how to get good pictures.

“Exploring Spirituality: The Raft is Not the Shore,” May 12, 26 and June 9 and 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at West Parish Congregational Church. It is the third in a series that focuses on aspects of spirituality and religion. Participants take turns facilitating. The book, “The Raft is Not the Shore: Conversations Toward a Buddist-Christian Awareness,” will be used as a starting point for discussion.

“Readings in American Democracy,” May 30, June 6, 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Telstar High School. Seabury Lyon will facilitate the discussion on the Great Books Foundation publication, “The Will of the People.” Studies will include the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, selected Federalist Papers and writings of Washington, Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr.

“Learning to Meditate, Simply,” May 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Telstsar High School. Kevin Pennell, CHT, will offer the follow-up class to his introductory meditation class being held on Tuesday, April 18, from 4 to 5:15 p.m. at Telstar High School. He will expand on the practice of meditation and its benefits as a safe and simple way to balance one’s physical, emotional and mental states.

“Spokesman for the Earth: The Poetry and Essays of Wendall Berry,” May 10, 24, 3l and June 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the McLaughlin Science Building, Gould Academy, Church Street. Bonnie Pooley and Jackie Cressy will facilitate the course on the work of Wendall Berry.

Information on several theater parties will also be available at the Member Tea, including “Almost Maine” by John Cariani on Sunday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the Penobscot Theater, Bangor; “A Month of Sundays” by Bob Larbey on Sunday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at The Public Theater, Lewiston; Western Mountains Senior Players performance on Sunday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m. at the McLaughlin Science Center, Gould Academy; “Ida – the Woman Who Runs with the Moose” on Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. at Gould Academy; and “Reny’s, the Musical” on Sunday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at Deertrees Theater, Harrison.
