FARMINGTON – Kia, a silver-coated shepherd mix, showed up at the Franklin County Animal Shelter as a stray from Livermore in less than acceptable condition.

She was covered with fleas and her hair was falling out. Kia’s hair has grown back, but it is still thin. She had two painful ear infections that are subsiding. Her toenails were so long that they were growing into her paws. Through all the grooming that needed to be done, she was calm and patient.

She loves to go for long walks and to curl up in a lap. The 70-pound dog believes she is a lap dog. She loves to nuzzle her head right into a chest and loll in someone’s arms.

Kia does have a great fear of small children, but would do wonderfully in any home with older children.
