Conclave is planned

PORTLAND – The on-line fly fishing Web-site flyfishinginmaine.com (FFIM) is hosting its seventh annual conclave on June 16-18 at Natantis Point Campground in the Chain of Ponds region.

The conclave is a gathering of the Web-site’s virtual community and will include a presentation by Dan Martin, Maine’s Commissioner of the Division of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The group will also be holding a series of raffles and silent auctions with the raised funds being given back to the community in the form of grants. FFIM has awarded one grant to the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman’s Association for a new fly fishing program aimed at Maine’s youth. The second grant was awarded to the Maine Division of Inland Fisheries and Wildlfie for a brook trout tagging study to be conducted on Chamberlain Lake.

“We’re very excited about this year’s conclave as it’s such a community event,” says FFIM’s Tim Soule. “We have some great industry sponsors like Temple Fork Outfitters, LL Bean, Patagonia, Scientific Anglers and Teeny Lines just to name a few.”

The group is also raffling off a 5-day trip for two to Quebec and a custom made bamboo fly rod that will be made by Maine rod-maker Kevin Little.

The June event is open to the public.
