LEWISTON – Jon Paradis paved the way, going 4-4 with five RBIs, to lead Lewiston to a dominating 19-3 win over Leavitt in a Class A baseball game Wednesday.

The third inning helped the Blue Devils (1-0) jump from nine to 14 runs after back-to-back hits from Chad Guimond, who smacked a two-run double, and an RBI double by Eric Waite.

Paradis rounded out the strong offensive effort in the third with a two-run homer. Pitcher Luke Potter struck out seven batters en route to the win.

Dan Buzzell hit two singles, while Evan Barker drove in two runs for the Hornets (0-1).

Fryeburg 9, Lake Region 0

FRYEBURG – Aaron Kasprak hurled seven innings of one-hit baseball and received strong support at the plate as Fryeburg rolled past Lake Region 9-0 in a WMC baseball matchup Wednesday.

Travis Fillebrown led the Raiders’ (1-0) offensive effort with two doubles and two RBIs, while Steve Barker, Evan Humphrey and Pat Tweedie also belted out doubles. Tweedie tallied three RBIs.

One of Fillebrown’s RBI doubles sparked a seven-run second inning for Fryeburg.

Gardiner 10, EL 8

GARDINER – Nick Godfrey’s RBI double sparked a five-run second inning for Gardiner as the Tigers edged Edward Little 10-8 in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Kyle Stilphen chipped in for the Tigers (1-0) with a solo home run in the first. Nick Acheson contributed offensively with a pair of hits.

Mike Burdin went the distance and picked up the mound win.

The Red Eddies (0-1) were paced by Tyler Snowe with a triple and four RBIs, while Derek Doucette belted a two-run double in the second. Starter Kyle Giguere was saddled with the loss after that damaging second inning.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 8, Mt. Ararat 5

LEWISTON – Jon Fournier netted four goals to lead Lewiston to a 8-5 victory over Mt. Ararat in KVAC boy’s lacrosse action Wednesday.

J.R. Roy, Zach Blauvelt, Tim Gilbert and Jake Theriault also tallied for the Blue Devils (1-1). Travis Lebrun contributed with two assists, while Matt Manlety and Josh Rivet added one each. With their starting goalie suffering a broken thumb just minutes before the game, Zach Sheltra stepped in and made six saves to notch the win.

The Eagles (1-1) were paced by Ryan Vermette with three goals, while Zach Drehobel and Brad Sturgeon also tallied. Josh Libby, Tucker Jones and Jake Farmer all contributed with assists. Brian Bousquet turned aside 12 shots in net for Mt. Ararat.

Oak Hill 16, Cony 5

WALES – Kevin Laplante had a solid day with five goals and five assists as Oak Hill rolled past Cony, posting a 16-5 win in a boys’ KVAC lacrosse matchup Wednesday.

Joey Gilbert stepped up with five goals as well, while Nick Brown and Chris Sherman scored three and two goals, respectively. Casey Beahme rounded out the scoring for the Raiders (2-0). Goaltending duties were split between Josh Heckard and Dan Fontaine, who combined for six saves.

The Rams’ (0-1) Dillon Shaw tallied a pair of goals. Steve Small, Luke Todd, and Justin Genot each scored one.

Lincoln 12, Oxford Hills 3

NEWCASTLE – Tom Nolet and Derek Joannides each tallied four goals and two assists a piece to lead Lincoln Academy to a 12-3 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

Kosta Gerrity added two goals and an assist, while Josh Peaslee and Sylas Hatch rounded out the scoring for the Eagles (2-0). Jesse Morkeski turned aside nine shots in net for Lincoln Academy.

The Vikings’ (0-2) scoring effort was paced by David LaRoach with a pair of goals.
