PORTLAND (AP) – Danny Matienzo, J.R. Taylor and Matt Moses knocked in two runs apiece as the New Britain Rock Cats snapped a 25-inning scoring drought and a three-game losing streak by beating the homestanding Portland Sea Dogs 7-3 Wednesday afternoon in the Eastern League.

Keoni De Renne went 3 for 4 and scored a run for the Sea Dogs.

The Rock Cats (5-8) grabbed a 2-0 lead on Matienzo’s two-run double in the first inning.

The Sea Dogs (7-6) scored once in the second when Luis Jimenez doubled and came home on Dusty Brown’s single.

Bases-loaded singles by Taylor and Moses were the key hits in New Britain’s five-run fourth inning.

Portland rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth but came up short.
