SALEM – Emily Stinchfield hit a pair of doubles and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Mt. Abram slipped past Jay 4-3 in MVC softball Friday.

Stinchfield reached home from second on a Heather Hayes single in the final frame, and picked up an RBI on the first score of the game in the first. Logan Walker collected the win on the mound for the Roadrunners (1-0).

Pitcher Kaylie DeMillo was tagged with the tough loss for the Tigers (0-2), despite only allowing three hits in the game. Betsy Gemilli and Zena Armandy each had an RBI for Jay, and Desiree Castonguay knocked in a run to complement a strong defensive game at third base.

Lewiston 10, Mt. Ararat 8

LEWISTON – Brittany Dubuc smacked a triple and a double in a three-hit effort at the plate as Lewiston held off a late rally for a 10-8 victory over Mt. Ararat in softball action Friday.

Maria Labbe batted Dubuc home after Dubuc’s triple in the first inning for the first score of the game, and then scored herself on an RBI single by Danielle Willey. The Blue Devils (2-0) would score three more unearned runs in the first. Willey struck out six for the win from the bump for Lewiston.

Katelyn Kenney had a pair of RBI singles to start the rally in the third inning for the Eagles (1-1). Starter Tristan Pepin pitched five innings in a losing effort.

Fryeburg 4, G-NG 1

GRAY – Freshman pitcher Hannah Hill had a dominant game on the hill and chipped in at the plate to propel Fryeburg Academy to a 4-1 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC softball.

Hill struck out 11 and walked only one, giving up an unearned run in the sixth inning. Hill also had two hits in the game to help out her own cause, belting a triple and plating two runs with a single in the top of the seventh. Catcher Cerise Humphrey had an RBI single and picked off two baserunners in steal attempts for the Raiders (1-1).

Olivia Ryan was tagged with the loss in a complete game effort for the Patriots (0-2).

Oxford Hills 7, Leavitt 4

TURNER – An errant pickoff throw to third cost the Leavitt two runs in the top of the sixth, breaking a 4-4 tie as Oxford Hills downed the Hornets 7-4 in a KVAC softball tilt.

Brittany Gurney had a pair of hits to pace the Vikings (2-0), while Tia Pratt hit an RBI double in the third. Beth Burgess had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Hornets.

Oak Hill 6, Lincoln 5

NEWCASTLE – Audrey Pelletier had three hits and scored the game-winning run on a single by Nikki Doustou in the top of the eighth as Oak Hill defeated Lincoln 6-5 in varsity softball action on Friday.

Megan Blais hit a two-run double in the third and finished with two hits for the Raiders (1-1), while Danni Potvin had two hits, including an RBI double.

Rachel Rice went 3-for-5 for Lincoln (1-1).

Lacrosse

Brunswick 13, Lewiston 3

LEWISTON – Megan Clement scored four goals and Liz Mills added three to power Brunswick to a 13-3 girls’ lacrosse victory over Lewiston.

The Dragons (3-0) built an 8-2 advantage by halftime.

Mallory Long scored twice for Lewiston (2-1), while Amie Daniels added one.
