FARMINGDALE – Abby Fenstermacher allowed one run on two hits while walking two and striking out three as Dirigo posted a 14-1 triumph over Hall-Dale on Tuesday.

Dani Thompkins hit a double, while Holly Knight and Brittany Palmer each hit singles to open up a 10-run third inning for the Cougars (2-0).

Livermore Falls 17, Mountain Valley 4

RUMFORD – A combination of solid pitching and errors aided Livermore Falls in a dominating 17-4 victory over Mountain Valley in an MVC softball matchup Tuesday.

Whitney McDaniels walked one batter to help the Andies (2-1) post the win. Taryn Flagg smacked an RBI double for Livermore Falls.

Mountain Valley (0-1) hit 11 pop flies throughout the game, and committed seven errors. Kristen Arsenault hit a one-run triple, while Kori Warren added an RBI double in the effort.

Georges Valley 20, Jay 1

THOMASTON – Ashley Geel crushed a grand-slam in the second inning as Georges Valley rolled to a 20-1 softball win over Jay.

Geel contributed four hits and eight RBIs for the Buccaneers (1-0). Jessica Keating and Liz Hall each smacked homers in the first inning, knocking home three and two runs, respectively. Chelsea Eugley added two hit and two RBIs for the Buccaneers.

Vanessa Frisbee got the win on the mound striking out six batters and giving up only four hits.

Boys’ lacrosse
Oak Hill 8, Lincoln Academy 7

NEWCASTLE – Casey Behne scored three goals as Oak Hill edged Lincoln Academy for an 8-7 victory in boys’ lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

Tied 4-4 at the half, neither team ever held more than a one-goal lead throughout the contest. Kevin Laplante added two goals and three assists for the Raiders (3-2). Joey Gilbert contributed a pair of goals, while Chris Sherman rounded out the scoring effort.

Lincoln (3-1) was led by Sam Elmes, with three goals and three assists, and Tom Knowlet, who added two goals and one assist. Derek Joinnides and Sylas Hatch each netted a goal apiece.

EL 5, Camden Hills 4, OT

CAMDEN – Andrew Brodski tallied the game-winning goal off a fast break after the faceoff 13 seconds into overtime to lift Edward Little to a 5-4 victory over Camden Hills in a physical KVAC lacrosse matchup Tuesday.

Each team received eight penalities during the match. Edward Little trailed until the fourth quarter, when tit picked up two goals to send the match to overtime. Josh Mockler, Kyle Russell, Bryan Campbell, and Zach Ward each netted goals for the Eddies (1-2).

Kyle Merrill, Max Holm, Chris Winklhoffa, and Marco Bava each scored for the Windjammers (0-3).

Baseball
Jay 19, Georges Valley 2

THOMASTON – Mike Nemi hit a double and had four RBIs as Jay knocked off Georges Valley 19-5 in five innings of baseball action Tuesday.

Zane Armandi recorded the win, fanning seven batters. He also hit a double at the plate. Nick Bourassa and Mike Descantis added two hits apiece for the Tigers (3-0).

Maranacook 5, MCI 2

PITTSFIELD – Pitchers Travis Harwood and Ryan Martin paired up to secure the win for Maranacook in a 5-2 triumph over Maine Central Institute.

Harwood pitched the first five innings, scattering two hits, before Martin stepped in and struck out five batters over the final two innings to capture the Black Bear (3-0) win. Billy Ervine hit a double, while Justin Denbow had two RBIs. Casey Coyne and Ryan Martin each had an RBI, as well.

The Huskies (1-2) were paced by Matt Debethune with a double.
