FARMINGTON – The Fresh Air Fund is seeking families in the Western Maine area to giver New York City inner-city children a two-week vacation this summer. By volunteering as a host family for the Friendly Town Program, residents can give a child a break from the heat and noise of the crowded city streets.

Last year, more than 5,000 Fresh Air children visited volunteer hosts in the northeast United States. This year, the fund needs more host families to carry on its 129-year-old summertime tradition. There are no financial requirements for hosting a Fresh Air child. Hosts can select the gender and approximate age of their visitor. First-time visitors are age 6 to 12 and re-invited youngsters may participate through age 18.
