TOPSHAM – Topsham Hannaford Store Manager Chris Fargo and Assistant Store Manager Jim Goldsberry presented a check for $1,000 to Carlene Iverson at Lisbon Community School recently.

Jamey Martin and her class helped raise the most for the school. The grant was awarded to the school for raising the most dollars in the Hannaford Helps Schools program through the Topsham Hannaford. The school raised a total of $1,930, which includes the grant amount.

Under the terms of the program, which ran from Sept. 4 to Dec. 3, shoppers could raise funds for local schools by purchasing certain products. More than 2,100 schools in five states participated and more than $650,0000 was raised.

Each store awarded an additional $1,000 grant to the one school registered through that store that raised the most funds. Lisbon Community School was the Topsham winner.

“On behalf of Hannaford, it gives me great pleasure to present this check to Lisbon Community School for the second year in a row,” said Fargo.

Iverson said, “There’s never enough money to support all of the programs we’d like to offer our students and we appreciate receiving this generous check from Hannaford.”
