BETHEL – Due to a scheduling conflict, Earle G. Shettleworth Jr., state historian and director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Bethel Historical Society Regional History Center’s Dr. Moses Mason House Meeting Room, 14 Broad St.

His topic has also been changed to “Silent Sentinels: Maine’s Civil War Monuments.” He had earlier been scheduled to speak on the artist Harrison Bird Brown on June 8, but that has been rescheduled for June 2007.
