LEWISTON – Police are investigating a small fire that was easily extinguished at about 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Libbey Mill on Main Street, according to police.

A tenant who rents part of the building saw the fire and called in the report, Lewiston police Lt. Tom Avery said Sunday evening.

The fire started in the portion of the old mill behind the Central Maine Power Co. substation, Avery said.

Avery said fire department investigators as well as police department detectives will conduct the investigation.
