LEWISTON – Heritage of Maine will hold a daylong conference Saturday urging teens to consider abstaining from sex until after marriage.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish Hall, and is open to the public.

Program Coordinator Meg Yates said 40 to 50 Lewiston and Auburn teens are expected to participate. Activities for the day will include group discussions, a video presentation and role-playing. There also will be a late-morning balloon stomp, Yates said, where participants will “debunk” reasons to have sex.

According to a news release, Heritage of Maine is a team of intergenerational and interdenominational men and women who, with the help of federal grant money, have “delivered programs in over two dozen locations engaging teens on topics of sexual health, abstinence and the benefits of marriage.”
