PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Barry Bonds blooped a wind-blown single into left field Saturday night. That’s as close as he’s come to clearing the fences in Philadelphia.

Chase Utley homered again and drove in two runs, sending the Phillies to their seventh straight victory with a 4-1 win over Bonds and the San Francisco Giants. Ryan Madson settled down after a shaky start, pitching out of trouble to win his second consecutive start.

It is Philadelphia’s first seven-game winning streak since June 25 to July 1, 2003.

Booed all night by Phillies fans for the second game in a row, Bonds went 1-for-3 with a walk. He remains stuck at 712 homers, two behind Babe Ruth for second place on baseball’s career list.

Bonds has not homered since Tuesday against San Diego. He snapped an 0-for-9 skid with a wind-blown popup that dropped between three fielders for a hit in the eighth inning.

Steve Finley then hit a sharp grounder toward first that struck Bonds on the right foot for an automatic out. The seven-time NL MVP walked off the field and tossed his helmet toward the dugout from the third-base line.

The Giants have dropped six of seven. Before the game, they put 39-year-old right fielder Moises Alou on the 15-day disabled list with a badly sprained right ankle, leaving them without their primary protection in the lineup for Bonds.

The slugger can expect even more walks now, but Madson and reliever Arthur Rhodes went after him for the most part Saturday night.

“His timing is off a little bit. He’ll get it back,” Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said before the game.

San Francisco also is missing second baseman Ray Durham, on the DL since April 28 with a strained left hamstring.

Madson (3-1) gave up one run, eight hits – seven singles – and four walks in six-plus innings. He allowed 10 baserunners in the first three innings but escaped unscathed.

Rhodes worked the eighth and Tom Gordon got three outs for his 10th save in 10 chances. The Phillies are 10-0 when leading after six innings.

Utley hit a solo shot off starter Jamey Wright (2-3) in the first inning, his third homer in two nights.

Madson singled leading off the third and went to second on Jimmy Rollins’ single. Wright then got wild. He hit Utley with a pitch, loading the bases, and walked Bobby Abreu, forcing in a run. Another run scored on Pat Burrell’s double-play grounder, making it 3-0.

Mike Matheny doubled off Madson to start the seventh and scored on Randy Winn’s RBI groundout against reliever Rheal Cormier.

Utley added a two-out RBI double in the seventh, extending the lead to 4-1. He has 11 hits in 20 at-bats and is 9-for-16 on the homestand.

Wright allowed three runs and five hits in six innings.

After getting twisted around on Rollins’ first-inning drive over his head, Bonds turned it on and made a tough catch at the edge of the warning track.
