LIVERMORE FALLS – Two SAD 36 teachers have avoided lay off by taking other positions in the district.

Superintendent Terry Despres said Thursday that administrators had been working on finding positions for the teachers for several weeks.

He said fifth-grade teacher Jennifer Timberlake has agreed to take a training course and transfer to become a gifted and talented teacher.

The district advertised the position, Despres said, but there were no takers.

He also recommended teacher Misty Martin transfer up to the middle school to teach.

SAD 36 directors approved both recommendations.

They also voted to make the position of assistant principal at the Livermore Falls High School one with a stipend, instead of full-time status.

The board also accepted Livermore Falls Director Heidi Rodzen’s resignation. She will be moving out of town.

Directors set a public hearing meeting on the $8.6 million proposed school-related spending package for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Cedar Street Complex.

Board members are also looking for someone from Livermore to serve on a high school principal search committee. Principal Rod Wright has resigned effective June 30.

Already on the committee are middle school Principal Ted Finn, high school teachers Tom Marshall, Sue St. Pierre and Michelle Merrill and board members Ashley O’Brien, Mac Haynes, Cindy Young. Ann Souther, a newly appointed director from Livermore Falls said she would serve as the community member on the committee for her town.
