Attain honors

HOLDERNESS, N.H. – Ben Mawhinney, a senior at the Holderness School, has been named to the school’s second- and third-quarter high honor rolls.

Mawhinney has also worked in the school’s on-campus student jobs program and served as the house leader of his dormitory. He was co-captain of a varsity cross country team that took third place at the New England prep school championships and is the founder and editor-in-chief of the Picador, the student newspaper.

Mawhinney was one of 10 Holderness nordic skiers to qualify for the Eastern High School nordic championships and in March carried out an independent project in audio-CD recording techniques. The son of Dan and Diane Mawhinney of Auburn, he will attend Colby College in the fall.

Andrew Kary, a junior at the school, has been named to the second-quarter honor roll, posting an academic average of 85 or better.

Kary has worked in the on-campus student jobs program, played on the junior varsity football team, competed against the best junior snowboarders in the east as a member of the school’s eastern snowboard team and taken part in Out Back, a 10-day hiking, camping, and leadership excursion into the White Mountains.

Kary is the son of Dr. Daniel Kary of Greene and Dr. Martha Lawrence of Auburn.

Earn honors

EXETER, N.H. – Matthew E. Siviski of Lewiston, a 10th-grader at Phillips Exeter Academy, has earned honors for the winter term. The son of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Siviski, he is in his first year at the independent secondary school.

NORTHFIELD, Mass. – John Emerson of Lewiston has been named to the academic honor roll for the winter term at Northfield Mount Hermon School.
