Class luncheon

MEXICO – The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at Dick’s Restaurant. For more information, call Geneva at 364-4216.

Celebration

BETHEL – Several former presidents of the Bethel Historical Society and at least one charter member are expected to be present for the 40th anniversary celebration at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the meeting room of the Dr. Moses Mason House.

The former presidents and charter member will provide their insights into the society’s journey from its first meeting in the Bethel Library on May 31, 1966, to its present status as one of the largest in the state.

Anyone interested in learning more about the society and its history is invited to attend. Refreshments and an anniversary birthday cake will follow a panel discussion.

Dinner change

RUMFORD – Due to a scheduling change, the prime rib and shrimp dinner to benefit the American Legion and the Mexico Recreation Park Improvement Fund has been changed from May 13 to Friday, May 19, at the American Legion.

A dance and open mic jam night will be held along with a 50/50 raffle. The meal from 6 to 8 p.m., will also includes potato salad, rolls and strawberry shortcake. Plates will be offered at $25 each and the price includes the show and a free 50/50 raffle ticket.

Those interested in only the music portion of the benefit may be admitted at $12 each.

Yard sale set

RUMFORD – The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary’s yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at 209 Lincoln Ave., the site of the former VA building. The fundraiser will offer donated and used items.

Auxiliary members will be at the building every Friday morning in May to receive donations. They will accept everything except clothing and major appliances. To have items picked up or to arrange a different time for drop-off, call Auxiliary President Barbara Belanger at 364-3648.

Outdoor market

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, rain or shine.

Registration for a space approximately 10 feet by 15 feet is $15. Registration forms may be picked up at Log Cabin Craftworks or may be mailed by contacting Ralph or Norine at 562-8816 days or 562-7482 evenings.

The format for the market remains the same, with booth space up and down Main Street where goods from food to handcrafts or raffle tickets may be sold.

The fourth annual Bicentennial Road Races will also be held early on Market Day. For more information about the races, contact Paul Jones at 562-7172.

The next meeting of the Market Committee will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Log Cabin Craftworks. If anyone would like to participate in any part of the planning of the event, they should contact a member of the committee or one of the numbers above. Committee members include Diane Carleton, Felicia Pietila, Pam Gatcomb, Rita Girardin, Paul Jones and Ralph and Norine Clarke.
