POLAND – The 9th annual Jim Giasson Invitational Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 17 at Fairlawn Golf Course.

As has been the tradition since its inception, money raised from the tourney will create scholarships to off-set the education costs of local high school seniors attending post-secondary institutions.

The fine turnout in 2005 allowed the board to extend an additional $500 scholarship to another local student.

The 2005 recipients were Katie Hughes, ELHS, who is attending North Park University; and Justine McCray of Leavitt Area High School, being schooled at Northeastern University.

Planning for the 2006 tourney is well under way and the board is accepting applications for this year’s two $500 scholarships. Local high school seniors can obtain an application from their guidance office, or by contacting Rob Schulz at 831-1902, or rm_schulz@verizon.net.
