SOUTH PARIS – Skateboarders from Gould Academy, Carrabassett Valley Academy, Morse High School and Oxford Hills High School will be competing Saturday, May 13 at the brand new Oxford Hills Skate Park in South Paris. They will be eyeing the grand prize, a week at Woodward East, the ultimate action sports summer camp.

Competitions in this year’s Spring Series of skateboarding were held at The Park in Bath; the Anti-Gravity Center at Carrabassett; Rye Airfield in Rye, N.H.; with the final event set for today from 3-5 p.m. at the Oxford Hills Skate Park on Charles Street.

Riders from area high schools, coached by adults, will compete in street and bowl events to christen the new concrete facility. Competition includes jam-style, meaning that riders skate together for a set time period. Judges then decide the winners with rider input.

The Spring Series was developed three years ago by the Gould Skateboard Team.
