LEWISTON – A couple and their dog had to evacuate their home at 21 Buttonwood Lane after a structure fire early Saturday morning.

Later in the day, fire Capt. Tim Myers said the fire had been reported at 12:37 a.m. at the home of Mark Anthoine Sr.

The flames were mostly contained to the finished attic of the two-story building, Myers said, but there was heavy smoke and water damage throughout the house. “Fire prevention figured the damages at $40,000,” he said

Myers said the building was insured.

No one was injured, although a firefighter was taken to a hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation. No cause has been determined, and the blaze still is under investigation.
