I received in the mail a few days ago a political letter which, in itself, is not anything unusual. However, the contents not only struck home, it opened my eyes to the importance of this year’s election. The letter came from Donald Bernard, a candidate for the Senate seat from Auburn and other nearby towns.
Never having done this before, I called Mr. Bernard, for I was interested in his agenda listed in the letter, primarily education. We spent a good 40-45 minutes discussing the need for bringing our schools up to date in this expanding computerized world. Stressing that science and math curriculum must be updated to meet this expanding world, yet we must not forget the need for the basic, such as plumbers, electricians, auto mechanics, etc.
Our conversation was enlightening and impressive, so much so that I believe he belongs in the Senate.
