LEWISTON – South Lewiston Little League will be celebrating its season opening today at 9 a.m. at the Martin’s Drive complex. The opening festivities will be followed by a 100 inning game involving all teams. SLLL has over 300 youngsters registered to play baseball, softball and T-ball this season. Friends and relatives are encouraged to attend.

A few games have already been played. Dube Gravel picked up 2 wins in the Major Division. Brandon Tiner hurled a 1-hitter, striking out 13, as Dube defeated Aroostook Fence 7-1. Nathan Fairchild whacked a bases-clearing triple, while Willy Desmaris collected 3 hits.

Dube trimmed Hammond Lumber 15-5 as Desmaris got the win with 8 strikeouts. Japtheth Taylor pitched 2 solid innings in relief. Danny Fournier and Cameron Provencher both scored twice. Devin Bilodeau walloped a 3-run homer for Hammond and Jeffrey Turcotte hurled 4 fine innings.
