FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Will Boe-Wiegaard advanced to the NCAA Division III men’s tennis national championship match for the second consecutive year with a straight-set victory over Middlebury’s Nate Edmunds in the semifinals Sunday.

A day after defeating defending national champion and No. 1 seed Matt Seeberger of California-Santa Clara in three sets, the unseeded Boe-Wiegaard beat Evan Tindell of MIT, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. The Bates senior then soundly defeated Edmunds 6-3, 6-2.

Boe-Wiegaard, a four-time All-America, faces No. 2 seed Brian Waldron of Middlebury in the championship match today at 9 a.m.

The two met once this year, with Waldron surviving a grueling three-set match 4-6, 7-6 (9), 6-4 in March.
