WEST PARIS – Ring-McKeen Post 151, American Legion, and Auxiliary will sponsor the Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 29. Grand marshals will be Sylvia and Rick McCann.

Units will line up at 10:45 a.m. on Maple Street and the parade will step off 11 a.m. and march to center of town for the flag salute and “Star Spangled Banner.” The parade will continue to the bridge for prayer by Pastor Bruce Tyner and gun salute by Legion members.

Units will march to the cemetery where a prayer will be offered by Tyner and a memorial address will be given by Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse. Randy Mills on bagpipes will give a musical tribute.

Introduction of grand marshals will be made by post Commander Deli Wilson and flowers will be presented to them. Bertha DeHaas will recite “Flanders Fields” and Auxiliary members will decorate graves.

A gun salute will be presented by Legion members followed by “Taps” and music by the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Band. The parade will stop at the veteran’s monument for prayer by Waterhouse. Auxiliary members will decorate the monument; Mills will play “Amazing Grace”; Emery Ryerson prayer tribute, son Dwayne; and “God Bless America” by all.

Those wishing will go to the Finnish American Hall for refreshments. The ceremony will be held at West Paris Grange Hall, 4 Church St., in the event of rain.
