LEWISTON – Local businesswoman Helen Poulin is a Democratic candidate for the County Commission representing Lewiston.

Poulin believes she would be an active and responsive county commissioner. Among her goals is to use her business skills to manage the resources of the county to help reduce the amount of local taxes raised to fund county activities. She believes this can be accomplished by actively exploring new avenues to increase the resources available to the county from other sources.

Poulin has owned several small businesses. She owns and operates Austin’s Business Services, which provides financial management services to small businesses. She also has served as treasurer of Androscoggin County and as a result is well-informed about the finances of the county. This combination of business and county experience has prepared her to bring good business and management practices to the county to ensure the wise and efficient use of taxpayer money, she said in a prepared statement.

She graduated from Holy Cross School and Lewiston High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Augusta. She and her husband, Robert, reside on Ferry Road in Lewiston. They have four adult children and three grandchildren.
