WINTHROP – Tavis Hasenfus belted two home runs in the third inning, including a grand slam, to power Winthrop to a 17-7 triumph over Wiscasset.

The Ramblers (8-2) built a 12-0 lead, but Wiscasset (2-11) cut the deficit to 13-7. Winthrop sealed it when Rusty Schmelzer ripped a game-ending three-run home run in the sixth.

Hasenfus knocked in seven runs. Schmelzer had four hits, while Hasenfus, Corey Gillespie, Dave Ricker and Forrest Dwyer had two apiece. Losing pitcher Ben Matzel had three hits for Wiscasset.

Liv. Falls 9, Carrabec 0

NORTH ANSON – Mike Durrell had two hits and drove in two runs to help Livermore Falls in a 9-0 victory over Carrabec.

Five pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout and 10 strikeouts. Kyle Stebbins had two hits and Zach Keene hit a double for Livermore Falls (4-7-1).

The lone hit for Carrabec was an infield single in the sixth by Dan Estes.

Monmouth 14, Georges Valley 6

WINTHROP – Monmouth scored 10 runs in the second and then held on for a 14-6 win over Georges Valley.

Eric Murphy had three hits, Rick Pelletier hit a home run and Erik Smith doubled and tripled for the Mustangs (7-3). Stephen Rannei went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Georges Valley.

Leavitt 10, Lewiston 0

TURNER – Ben Boulay had two doubles and a home run to lead Leavitt to a 10-0 shutout over Lewiston.

Boulay had five RBIs and four hits for the Hornets (2-10). Tim Doyle pitched all six innings, striking out six and giving up one hit.

Poland 2, Fryeburg 0

FRYEBURG – Pitcher Joe Douglass tossed a superb game to lift Poland to a 2-0 win over Fryeburg in WMC baseball action Monday.

Douglass went all seven innings, fanning 12 batters in the one-hit outing for the Knights (7-4). Will Griffiths scored on an error in the top of the seventh to give Poland an insurance run.

Pat Tweedie had the only extra base hit in the contest, a double for the Raiders.

Dirigo 12, Lisbon 4

DIXFIELD – Two-run doubles by Spencer Berry and Chris Richards highlighted a 10-run outburst in the third inning that sent Dirigo to a 12-4 victory over Lisbon.

The Greyhounds (8-6) opened a 4-0 lead with the help of two errors before Dirigo (11-1) stormed back. Berry finished with three hits, while Josh Daley, Gary Holman, Dakota Holmquist, Aaron Fenstermacher and Richards all had two hits.

Payton Austin and Mike Wilkins pitched for Lisbon.

Mt. Abram 5, Jay 4

SALEM – Brandon Wheeler fired a two-hitter, allowed two earned runs and fanned 13 to carry Mt. Abram to a 5-4 victory over Jay.

Wheeler belted a three-run home run in the fifth that scored Aaron Adams and Leo Langdon. Jordan Norton had two hits, including a double for Mt. Abram (8-3).

Zane Armandi hit a double for Jay (9-3).

Oxford Hills 10, Morse 0

BATH – Pitcher Alex Waite got his first win of the season by firing a no-hitter in Oxford Hills’ 10-0 victory over Morse in five innings.

Waite (1-0) struck out three and walked two, and came through with a pair of hits and four RBIs on offense.

Dan Millett had three hits and a pair of RBIs, and Justin Frechette added a double for the Vikings (7-5).

Maranacook 6, MCI 0

READFIELD – Travis Harwood scattered three hits as Maranacook ran away to a 6-0 win over MCI 6-0.

The Black Bears (10-2) played flawless defense behind Harwood (4-1), finishing with no errors, and Billy Ervin had a two-RBI single in the fourth inning. Craig Maffei and Corey Palmer also had hits for Maranacook.

Victor Quint took the loss for MCI (3-9).

Lacrosse
St. Dom’s 20, Wells 1

AUBURN – Tavian McKinnon scored a game-high six goals and had three assists to power St. Dom’s to a 20-1 victory over Wells.

Ben Adams netted five goals with a game-high six assists, while Tyler Martin and Andrew Gilbert scored two goals apiece for the Saints (6-3).
