PORTLAND (AP) – Maine’s Roman Catholic bishop was recuperating at his home Monday following emergency gall bladder surgery.
Bishop Richard Malone underwent the surgery Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital in Portland. The Diocese of Portland said in a statement that Malone was making a good recovery.
This week’s public appearances for the 60-year-old bishop have been cancelled, the statement said, and his workload for next week will be evaluated within a matter of days.
