AUBURN – The White Sox fell shy with a late rally, 6-5, to the Knights in Men’s Senior Baseball League (over 30) action at Pettengill Park.

Wade Johnson pitched the final six innings for the win in relief of Rich Flaherty. The Knights inflicted most of their offensive damage early. Corey Brigham belted an RBI single in the first inning. Al Swain drew a bases-loaded walk in the third, followed later by Brigham’s sacrifice fly. Paul Hansen added an RBI single in that frame, and Jon Tarr cracked a two-run hit in the fourth.

Tarr, Brigham, Derek Lamb, Chris Faulkingham and Dave Lagueux each slapped a pair of hits for the Knights.

Dan Coleman and Steve Labossiere each delivered a two-run single for the White Sox. Coleman’s connection closed the gap in the eighth inning. Coleman also scored the fifth run on a throwing error. The White Sox left the potential tying run at third base in the eighth and ninth innings.

John Brooks hurled four scoreless innings in relief for the White Sox (2-1), who face the Dodgers this weekend in Litchfield.
