SOUTH PARIS – Elsie (Abbott) Bennett, 90, of South Paris, died Thursday, May 25, at Market Square Health Care.

She was born in Bryant Pond on May 16, 1914, the daughter of Leslie and Edith (Cushman) Abbott. She was educated in Woodstock schools, graduated from Woodstock High School, and later attended Farmington Normal School.

She married Donald W. Bennett on Nov. 23, 1933. They lived in Locke Mills for 63 years.

She was a 4-H Club member and leader. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Locke Mills, and a life member and Past Matron of Jefferson Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Bryant Pond.

She was also a life member of the Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens, Bethel Senior Citizens and the Locke Mills Union Church.

She is survived by two sons, Dean B. Bennett and James R. Bennett; four grandchildren, Richard Bennett, Cheryl Martin, Leslie Greenberg and Jason Bennett; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, who passed away Dec. 30, 1996; one son, Neal Abbott Bennett; and a sister, Harriet Farrington.
