JAY/LIVERMORE FALLS – Jay, Livermore Falls and surrounding towns held their annual Memorial Day parade that started in Jay and proceeded down Main Street in Livermore Falls.
Starting the festivities was a ceremony at the Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge, followed by an observance by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3335 at the Jay POW/MIA Bridge. John Dube prayed, “We ask Your blessing upon those who gave their all.” He was joined in prayer by the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Amvets Post 33, VFW Post 3335 Ladies Auxiliary, and Amvets Ladies Auxiliary.
The participants proceeded to the Jay Hill Cemetery where Hyla Friedman of the VFW Post 3335 Ladies Auxiliary placed a wreath at the World War II Monument and said, “I urge everyone to do their utmost for veterans and their families. There are not too many WWII veterans left.”
At the Livermore Falls park World War I and World War II monuments, VFW Post 3335 Commander Palmer Hebert prayed, “Bless our military family. Let us never forget the memories of those in our cemeteries and in cemeteries in foreign countries.”
Commander Hebert also asked everyone to take a moment to give thanks to all our servicemen.
