LISBON – Principal Richard Green, Philip W. Sugg Middle School, was recently “arrested” for the benefit of a fundraising effort sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Members of the student council supported the drive to raise money in the form of pledges in an effort to bail out their principal.
According to MDA District Director Ann Marie Tucker, the Lewiston/Auburn lock-up raised more than $32,000 for muscular dystrophy. Green raised $655 in pledges thanks to the support of his students and teachers.
“MDA sponsors research and service for more than 40 neuromuscular disorders, including the muscular dystrophies, amyotrophic, lateral sclerosis (ALS), spinal muscular atrophies, inflammatory myopathies, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Friedreich’s ataxia and myasthenia gravis,” said Tucker.
