GARDINER – Mindy Rugg belted an RBI single in the 10th inning to lift Oxford Hills to a 3-2 victory over Gardiner in KVAC softball action Tuesday.

Jen Jurczak allowed just one hit in 10 innings of work to pick up the win. Rugg led the Vikings (14-2) with three hits on the day, while Diane Ramsey added two.

Jasmine Trott handled pitching duties for the Tigers and was tagged with the loss.

Buckfield 10, Rangeley 0

RANGELEY – Desiree Brackett fanned 11 batters and walked only two en route to a 10-0 Buckfield shutout over Rangeley in softball action Tuesday.

Shayna Shackford belted out a two-run homer in the fourth inning for the undefeated Bucks (14-0) win. Both Brackett and Kasey Farrington hit RBI doubles for the win as well.

The Lakers’ (9-5) effort was led by Ashley Quimby with a pair of hits, and Kate Jamison, who smacked a double. Raina Eustis led the team with a solid defensive effort.

Mt. Blue 7, Lewiston 5

LEWISTON – Timely hits by Ameyla Allen and Sam Jewell sparked a four-run third inning as Mt. Blue pulled off a come-from-behind 7-5 victory over Lewiston in a late-season KVAC softball matchup Tuesday.

The Cougars (5-11) trailed 2-0 after two innings, then took the lead for good with their big rally in the third. Allen led Mt. Blue with two hits on the day. Larissa O’Connor held the Blue Devils (8-8) to just four hits and picked up the win.

Brittany Dubuc led Lewiston with an RBI double and two hits overall. Danielle Willey started out on the mound and was tagged with the loss.

Madison 12, Mt. Abram 3

MADISON – Ashley Marandola fired a no-hitter and scored the go-ahead run on an Amanda Costa single to lead Madison to a 12-3 victory over Mt. Abram.

The Roadrunners (8-7) took advantage of a pair of errors and three walks to score three runs in the first two innings, but Madison (10-5) roared back with three in the second to take command.

After Chantelle Osgood singled home Jessica Romano, she scored the tying run on Marandola’s double. Costa, who had four hits, followed with her game-winning single.

Logahn Walker struck out two and walked eight for Mt. Abram.

Livermore Falls 7, Winthrop 6

LIVERMORE FALLS – Whitney McDaniel belted an RBI single in the eighth inning to lift Livermore Falls to a 7-6 victory over Winthrop in a MVC softball matchup.

McDaniel also worked the mound for the Andies (11-5), picking up the win despite allowing 12 hits and walking four. Tary Flagg also contributed for Livermore Falls with a double. The Ramblers (2-12) were paced by Kassandra Greenleaf with a pair of doubles. Jill Ouellette handled pitching duties and was saddled with the loss.

Lacrosse

EL 12, Mountain Valley 5

AUBURN – Liv Welch netted five goals, and Beth Esponnette added three as Edward Little rolled to a 12-5 victory over Mountain Valley in a late-season KVAC lacrosse matchup Tuesday.

Bre Wing and Brittany French contributed for the Red Eddies (4-8) with two goals apiece to complete the scoring. JoJo Hughes made 21 saves in net to post the win.

The Falcons were paced by Kerri Patenaude with three goals, while single goals by Jen Hamann and Angela Cormier rounded out the final tally. Rachel Cavlen turned back 13 shots in net for Mountain Valley.
