NORWAY – A five-year-old business selling gifts and offering moose tours is shutting its doors, but its owners have plans to reopen next year, just in a different spot, Brenda Marcotte said Wednesday.

Marcotte said she’s taking some time off to recover from a planned hip surgery and would like to reopen her Mooseland Tours and Gift Shop on Route 26 next spring.

The vacating of Norway’s Main Street by stores for busier Route 26 is a constant problem for the town as it tries to bring its downtown back to life.

New Balance moved to Route 26 recently, leaving behind a vacant Main Street storefront and taking with it a fair amount of foot traffic.

Marcotte said she will look for a space with more parking for her customers and her van, which she uses to take tourists on moose-spotting tours in the area.

Customers can still purchase gifts from her online shop at www.mooselandtours.com, she said.
