BRUNSWICK – Hugh Edward McGuigan, 74, of Old Farm Road, West Bath, died Saturday, June 3, at a Brunswick Hospital.
He was born in Lewiston on April 8, 1932, a son of Hugh Ernest and Elaine P. (Madore) McGuigan. He attended St. Patrick’s, Martel and Lewiston High School.
He was employed at the Hill Mill in Lewiston and on May 30, 1952, he married Rita R. Plante. On Nov. 20, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on Oct. 14, 1954. He was employed at Bath Iron Works for 42 years, retiring in 1994 as supervisor in the pipe covering department.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath, the Knights of Columbus in Bath and the Bath Area Senior Citizens. He enjoyed boating, traveling, painting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Rita R. McGuigan of West Bath; one son, Edward M. McGuigan and his fiance, Paulette Mitchell, of Bath; two daughters, Kathleen A. Perry and her husband, Keith, of West Bath and Elaine S. Jacobs of Bath; two sisters, Claire McGuigan of Lewiston and Arline Hicks of Limestone; four granddaughters, Kelly Perry, Karly A. York and her husband, Jeff, Sarah P. McGuigan and Nicole J. McGuigan; six nieces and nephews; and two grandnephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, James McGuigan; and one sister, Carmen McGuigan.
