LEWISTON – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA’s Daisy Garden Childcare recently visited the Lewiston Public Library to help kick off “Read Across L/A.” Chip Morrison, executive director of The Chamber, read stories to the children.

“Read Across L/A” is a cooperative effort with the Lewiston and Auburn public schools to raise community awareness of early literacy. A goal of the program is to encourage all parents to read to their preschool children 20 minutes every day.

The YMCA runs two nationally accredited child care centers. The Daisy Garden site is located at 96 Campus Ave. and provides child care for employees of Sisters of Charity Health System, with some slots also available for the public. The Auburn facility is located at the YMCA at 62 Turner St.
